By elevating dogma above reason, the individual's intelligence is prevented from becoming self-reliant. Economic dependence is maintained by centralizing economic power and by a deliberate scarcity of the necessities of life. Social self-sufficiency is discouraged by crowded housing or communal quarters, and by enforced daily participation in public functions. Ruthless censorship of literature, art, music and science prevents even the creative few from living self-sufficient lives."
Eric Hoffer, The True Believer
History captures filtered images of the ebb and flow of power. Power is derived from its span of control and it is cemented with resources and force. While personalities within institutions are identified with particular historical power cycles, we can trace the thread of power through the scribes, priests, generals and monarchs across the span of time.
Most of the world still experiences the ravages of classical conservatism; only the United States was able to radically depart from the political model which empowers the few while oppressing the masses. The Founders sought individual liberty without government obstruction. Individual freedom is something that remains quite fleeting outside the United States: Freedom to speak, to defend, to worship, to property, to life, to equality of opportunity. Our nation is the result of classical liberalism and the age of enlightenment. Americans broke the bonds of political servitude. It became our duty to more carefully guard against the excesses of our human nature.
The world, for the most part, remains marked by dictatorships, monarchies, and pseudo-democracies that ration power, wealth, education, and liberty. The masses have been controlled over the centuries in many ways. Most often these included restricting higher education to the elite, reserving access to political power to the elite, and relegating the masses to levels of subsistence living alone. In classical conservatism monarchs ruled by divine right anointed by the High Priests of Egypt and Israel, later by the Pope in Rome. Individuals had no inherent liberty, only duties and responsibilities assigned by the State. It is no surprise that most nations represented in the United Nations have no affinity with the United States. Our heritage of liberty is the antithesis of the political cultures in other countries.
The United States will always have a love/hate relationship with the world provided we remain true to our founding principles. Our culture of individual liberty and opportunity is anathema to most foreign nations and our popular culture risks tearing the cultural fabric of highly regimented social orders. America threatens the status quo of the world's classical conservative order be they monarchical, social-democratic, fascist-socialist, or fascist-communist. When America intentionally interjects itself in another country's affairs, divorced from an imminent threat to our national security, we violate a founding principle and invite loathing. The hope of many world leaders is that America become like them; the despair of the world’s masses is that we, in fact, might.
“When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe.”
Thomas Jefferson
It used to be about competing global interests between sovereign nations. No longer. The interests of nations are defined not from within but from without. Transnational corporations have become the threat foretold 50 years ago. The military industrial complex has lived up to the concerns and warnings of President and 5-Star General Dwight Eisenhower.
Sovereign national policies have mutated into reactionary principles designed to make the best of any given day or election cycle. The internet and satellite radio/television have become a double-edged sword. While the world shrinks and gigabytes of data abound, the education or knowledge base necessary for the interpretation of foreign data and images is lacking. The United Nations champions the demagoguery of the worst while serving as a backdrop for the manipulations of the mighty. It is a forum where the poor conspire against the rich and liberty’s enemies conspire against America.
"What follows is for those who want to change the world from what it is to what they believe it should be. The Prince was written by Machiavelli for the Haves on how to hold power. Rules for Radicals is written for the Have-Nots on how to take it away."
Saul Alinsky, Rules for Radicals
The "One World Order" of the 1960s has come to haunt us. The promise of peace and harmony through a strong economic interdependence between all nations looked good in the 1980s. The 2009 world recession portends the coming power shift. The latter also points to the strategies of our world competitors (enemies?) in their attempts to subjugate (i.e., destroy) America. The American cheerleaders for a united world economic order were Republican and Democrat. At the time the "new order" promised a short-term windfall profit for the United States. The long term strategy was either kept secret, poorly conceived or non-existent altogether. As in Vietnam, our policy-makers focused on the next battle and not the war. In Vietnam America was defeated.
NAFTA and other mechanisms of US national policy made it easy for large corporations to abandon our communities and go abroad. America slowly stopped manufacturing and these jobs went beyond our borders. While the jobs were lost, the multi-nationals were invigorated by lower costs and higher profit margins. America did not even fully benefit from the full measure of taxes on those profits. The manufacturing concerns that remained were mired by intransigence between labor and management, bloated costs, lower quality and vanishing foreign markets.
The fall of US manufacturing has left a legacy of joblessness and pockets of great despair in many States. America has become a debtor nation. We have been reduced to the likes of a service economy where franchises reign supreme. Some saw our power in the purchase and consumption of the world’s goods. But, aside for a few decades after World War II when the world “bought American”, the world now consumes little from the US. Our creditors have advanced to a point where they have leveraged our very currency. America must now get a nod from China for any significant Congressional spending authorization. The danger to our nation is that some of these creditors are the strategic enemies of the United States and would see us destroyed.
Now we come to you and me, Americans. Our standard of living has been falling. Most couples must both work to enjoy what used to be basic luxuries. Both political parties have lowered the standards of our school systems and teachers unions perpetuate them. Schools “teach the test” to create the illusion of proficiency. Political correctness has promoted mass denial by prohibiting the enforcement of clear standards of performance. As the economy continues to sour Americans will understandably begin to focus more on daily subsistence rather than on the real danger: We are about to be stripped of our individual liberty and experience economic servitude.
The Progressive’s methodology calls for federal control of the economy (or most of it) and influencing (aka, controlling) our individual priorities. Step one is to weaken the middle class economically, step two will seek to control speech and step three will be to disarm us. The sycophant politicians that support this agenda do not support the Constitution and have violated their oaths of office.
Once these steps have been accomplished we will no longer be Americans, we will have become like any other oppressed person around the globe: Dependent on large government to tell us what it considers appropriate for each of us.
“The Party commands the gun, and the gun must never be allowed to command the Party.”
Mao
Political science has focused on the totalitarian regimes of Stalin, Hitler and Mussolini. Mao used to be included but too many teachers and professors have grown to admire this mass murderer because of the success of the largest mass movement of the 20th century, perhaps ever. Lip service is paid to the limitations to personal liberty in socialist European nations as compared to the freedoms provided for by the US Constitution. Why? There are those who feel individually superior to the rest of us and feel it is their right to tell us how to live or what to think. Then there are the sycophants who are looking for a free ride without a moral compass to guide them.
In America, a would-be despot was meant to experience only frustration and rejection. The three branches of the Federal Government were meant to "check and balance" each other. The direct election and short terms in office by Representatives in the House were meant for the participation of our neighbors in government. The indirect election of Senators and their longer terms in office were to temper the passions of the People. The fact that Senators were appointed by State legislators ensured their loyalty to their State. This also retained most political power at State level as the Founders intended. Today we can appreciate how these key protections were removed and, in their place, we now have politicians who will do anything to remain in power.
The Progressive movement gained momentum within the wealthy urban elite in the early 1900s as they praised the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution. Presidents might covet the greater executive powers in other forms of government elsewhere. In many nations where the military are, in fact, the power behind the government might find our Generals enjoying the taste of this power when operating outside America. Likewise, politicians that "know what is best for us" crave more power as necessary and vital. Members of Congress need more national power if they are to truly play a role on the world stage. To realize national power the Federal Government must become a national government where States Rights become irrelevant. The Constitution would become a "figurehead" document akin to the various figurehead monarchs abroad.
"We are five days away from fundamentally changing the United States of America."
President Elect Obama, prior to his 2010 inauguration
The Constitution's Bill of Rights would become mute, Americans would be disarmed, and the Federal Government would become the power For the People, By the Government. The Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense would be joined with our covert intelligence agencies to thwart the will of the majority of free Americans. This majority will be defined and reviled by national media owned by large corporations that will rally to the progressive counter-revolution to protect its existence and to curry favor.
Like all mass movements, members of the elite will arouse the passions of the least fortunate in our nation to justify trashing the Republic. Americans will be positioned to become the new proletariat of the 21st century. The progressive political elite will form the visible vanguard of the proletariat while their “Rasputin” intelligentsia remains hidden. Rasputin is incredibly wealthy, wealth that is derived from world markets. Rasputin's cronies are likely to be foreign and domestic. If they are Americans, they have no loyalty to the US Constitution. They are plagued by the need to feed power-hungry egos and the desire to plunder the Central Banks. These enemies of the state work behind the scenes and dictate to the political elite in Washington DC and elsewhere. With billions and trillions of dollars on the table, political threats are not to be taken lightly. People have been killed for less; the stakes for the greedy are enormous.
In 2010 the bailouts and massive stimulus spending sufficed to bribe seditious factions but this will change with a consolidation of power. Many of the political "fellow travelers" or "useful fools" from both Parties will find a change in fortune if the radicals succeed; they have already taken over the White House and significant numbers in Congress. Just as Obamacare was more important than a Democrat’s re-election, so too will the interests of the Progressive Vanguard trump any career in Congress. Politicians will be expendable and their primary function will be to help herd the masses (i.e., you and me).
Napoleon said that given enough red ribbon he could conquer the world. The ribbon he spoke of referred to the medals and decorations that recognize great achievements. In the military these are a source of individual and unit pride. Let pride not be abused nor our military distracted from their primary oath and allegiance. The oath requires them to defend the US Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic. The allegiance of our military is to the American People, not elected federal officials and bureaucrats.
Individual liberty and the pursuit of happiness fueled the migration west in America. A man’s word was his bond and a handshake still seals a deal in Texas. The opportunities were only limited by the effort each person invested. Dissatisfaction with local conditions could be resolved with a change of venue. Self-reliance was the key. Whether you were successful or not was not as important as having had the freedom to try what you wanted to do.
But America now boasts many large cities and urban sprawl is the norm. Big lots have become zero-lots. Whole groups of Americans have been deliberately brought up relying on government programs and handouts. The government did not want to teach or promote self-reliance. Why? Self-reliance promotes independent thinking and this was contrary to the real political intent of these programs. It was not to help but to make these groups feel entirely dependent on their political masters.
Vote for the master and the master will make things available to you. Crowded in the cities human necessity fueled greed and corruption. Both require power and control. The rule of law becomes a game and man’s higher capacities are reduced to base animal instinct. Some would gloss over this problem calling it “Chicago politics”; patriots call it a “wake-up call”.
“When the finger points at the moon, the imbecile looks at the finger.”
Chinese proverb
The Progressives pose a clear threat and will personally endanger us. Our way of life must be “fundamentally transformed” by force and without our approval so the two-party Progressive rule can be institutionalized, our freedoms eliminated, and world governance made a reality. Young idealists without knowledge of our Founding and the Constitution will answer the call of universal peace and love, and a clean, grateful environment. Older Americans will be leveraged with access to medical treatment and a minimum quality of life. Those in the middle will be required to demonstrate their loyalty to the new regime, a transformed nation.
To the student of history, nothing has changed. Human nature is predictable and is an historical constant. We must learn to live with the good and the bad. The Founding Fathers acknowledged our inalienable rights from our Creator but designed our Republic to enhance the good in each of us while tempering the bad. The Progressives, on the other hand, use the historically abused excuse that a strong central government populated by sages such as they is the only way to redeem us. We are told we will then enjoy their brand of collective security. And as some less stellar parents have done, the Progressive Vanguard will have us “do as they say but not as they do”.
“We are not to expect to be transported from despotism to liberty in a featherbed.”
Thomas Jefferson
It is now up to each of us to consider what the Constitution and the American way of life mean to us. Is it worth surrendering to a minority faction who wants all the power and wealth for itself? Is it worth working for the political master instead of for yourself and your family? Are you ready to be told what to do and when to do it? Are you ready to surrender your arms? Are you ready to stop hunting and fishing? If any answer was in the negative then you must consider your options. At the moment our options can be achieved peacefully and, God willing, the Progressive agenda for a fascist-socialist America will fail. We have the elections (local, State, Federal) this year and in 2012 to peacefully and decisively defeat the Progressives and work on restoring the original intent of our Constitutional Republic.
“These are the times that try men’s souls; the summer soldier and sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands for it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.”
Thomas Paine, 1776
